an ordinary art post

Still stoked about JET. Don't know if I'll be capable of writing coherently for the next week or two, so instead, let me take pictures of some projects I've been working on with my cameraphone! (Uh, camera-on-the-phone, that is.) I'd be using my scanner if it were working, but it's not, so that option is pretty much out of the question.
First, a background picture I'm halfway done with -- it's for the Not So Sekrit Comic that my friend Ellen and I have been working on.

Yeah, it's blurry, all right.

Better? Eh, maybe not.
Then, while going through some of my old sketchbooks, I found this amongst all the rubbish.

I seriously have to wonder what was running through my head when I drew it. There are leaves and branches, something framing the side, and a layout that vaguely hints at page composition. But I have no idea what it was for, since it must have been from one of my high school art classes, and yet I never really ended up with a finished piece that looked anything like that. It's kind of bizarre.
Since I liked it anyway, I decided to re-sketch it and this time, add color!

Unfortunately, I'm still not done with it yet. More to come later!
